The Young New Zealanders's Challenge (aka the Duke of Edinburgh Award)

To all you Leaders, Venturers and Senior Scouts out there - did you know that those enrolled in the above Award can use "Venturers" (and "Scouts" as well, I guess) as their "Skill" at the Bronze, Silver and Gold Levels ??!!

This is based on the fact, that by attending and participating in the programme, the Venturers are picking up a wide variety of skills. And all in their own time! Makes perfect sense, doesn't it!!!

When "Venturers" is written in the Venturer's Award book in the "Skills" section, the D. of Ed. Office would like the comments to reflect some of the skills learnt e.g. dining etiquette, camping, leadership, public speaking, chairing meetings, etc. (all of the formal and informal skills that fall outside of the normal D. of Ed. programme, but inside the Queen's Scout programme!).

I hope this helps all you Venturers out there to step faster within the Duke of Ed. Awards and closer to your goal of the Queen's Scout Award!
